James D. George (Jim) has worked for and with The Hershey Company for over 35 years in multiple disciplines, including Sales, Operations, Public Affairs, Recruitment and Relocation. Jim retired from the company in February 2013 as Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility. In that role, Jim was responsible for the company’s corporate social responsibility programs locally, nationally and internationally. Jim also held other executive leadership positions within the company as Vice President, Community Relations and Vice President, Global Packaging.

Throughout his career at The Hershey Company, Jim worked very closely with the other Hershey Entities to develop programs and initiatives that helped to promote ”The Hershey Idea,” established by the company’s founder, Milton S. Hershey, in which all the businesses created by Mr. Hershey would work together for the common good and in support of the Milton Hershey School.

Jim is well versed on Hershey history, the workings of the Hershey businesses and the inter-connections between the Hershey organizations.  He is also employed as the Director of Community Relations at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine.

As a resident in the Hershey community, Jim served on the Executive Committee of Penn State Health Children’s Hospital’s Children’s Miracle Network Advisory Board and is a past Chairman. He also serves on The Hershey Story Advisory Board, the New Birth of Freedom Council Boy Scouts of America Board of Directors, Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Community Needs Assessment Advisory Board, the Farmers Market in Hershey Executive Committee, the Hershey Community Garden Steering Committee, the Hershey/Derry Township Downtown Core Design Board and the Hershey Rotary club. He is the co-founder of Project Fellowship, a unique volunteer program providing support to Milton Hershey School students and houseparents. Jim formerly served as Chairman of Hershey’s Track & Field Games Board of Directors.  He holds private, instrument and commercial pilot licenses, donates plane rides to local charities and is a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight East.  Jim is an Eagle Scout active in the Hershey area Scouting program, and an elder at Derry Presbyterian Church.
